The Calendar

The 12 Geats’ months are 4 weeks, with Lithe and Geola festivals taking up the other three weeks between them.

The Geats’ Months Modern Months Notes
Aefter Geola January The period after Yule.
Solmonath February Pancake month; a time of using up old eggs, flour and leftovers.
Hrethmonath March The month of Hrethe, goddess of honour and victory, to whom Geats sacrifice to celebrate the defeat of winter.
Eostremonath April The month of Eostre, Goddess of fertility and plenty, to whom Geats sacrifice in anticipation of fine harvests in coming months.
Thrimilchmonath May The month of three milkings a day.
Aerra Lithe June The period before Midsummer.
Lithe The Midsummer festival lasts around 10 days; a time of fairs and folkmoots.
Aefter Lithe July The period after Midsummer.
Weodmonath August Plant month, when crop plants increase and ripen.
Haligmonath September Holy month: prayers for good harvests.
Winterfell October Wards and charms weaken; wights wax in strength; the nights grow long and dark. Winter starts on the first full moon.
Blotmonath November Mankind’s protections renewed through blood sacrifice of the slaughter month.
Aerra Geola December The period before Yule. Ends with Modraniht, feast of the Mother.
Geola Twelve days of Yule.
